About

Aya Nabih

I have been working as an English > Arabic translator, reviewer, copy editor and language lead for over 10 years. My expertise covers a wide range of content, including subtitling, marketing, literature, video games and technical texts.

Localization projects I worked on include the Marrakech Biennale catalogue, Cairo International Cinema Festival Bulletin, several projects for National Geographic, Disney Middle East, FOX, Cartoon Network and The French Institute in Cairo. I have also created the first film audio description in a museum in Egypt for the Museum of Antiquities in Bibliotheca Alexandrina. I had the pleasure to translate and publish a short story collection by Lydia Davis (2016), in addition to translations of literary texts that appeared in several literary journals.

I attended translation and creative writing workshops in Casablanca, France and Doha and was artist-in-residence in Marrakech and New York in a dance-poetry residency together with other writers and choreographers.

When I am not translating, I take photos of nature and objects, walk, collect leaves and seashells, watch netflix or cook.
